We have decided to move the announcement of the 'Car of the Year 2023' to Brussels Motor Show on Friday the 13th of January. The new timeline is:

November 22 2022:     Final long list publication

November 23 2022:     First round voting

November 24 2022:     Short list publication

January 11/12 2023:    Shortlist testdrives at Circuit de Mettet (Belgium)

January 12 2023:         Final voting deadline

January 13 2023:         Announcement of the Car of the Year 2023 (Bussels Motor Show)

Thanks to all for a fantastic Tannistest 2022!

This Tannistest has been a success! Not because of the weather! But because of the great support from both COTY-Jurors and the industry. It has resulted in many cars, fine tests and excellent photo sessions. And we managed to have two interesting interview sessions.
So, as the organizer of Tannis-test I will conclude, we got what we came for. It has once again been great to join Tannistest whatever you are a journalist or a representative of the industry.

I will use the opportunity to thank the car brands for their strong commitment and support by bringing both cars and experts.  Also to my colleagues in the Jury and my colleagues from FDM I wish to say: Thank you! And to everyone: I wish you a safe journey back home and welcome back next year!
On behalf of the Nordic jury group

Charging fee for EV's and PHEV's at Tannistest

As a result of the rising electricity costs, we have unfortunately been forced to ask the Car Manufacturers/Car Importers for payment to charge the electric cars and the plug-in hybrid cars that are participating in Tannistest 2022.
The fee will be a 'flat rate' of 100 Euro for each BEV or PHEV car. The fee will be charged at the event to one of the representatives of each brand in case we haven't agreed in other payment methods. The Tannistest organization ensures that all the cars are continuously charged so that there always is sufficient power for the test drives.

Tannistest 2022 (COTY 2023)

Tannistest 2022 is taking place:

The Kia EV6 has been proclaimed the Car of the Year 2022 with 279 points and 12 best votes at the ceremony that took place today in Geneva. The Renault Mégane E-TECH Electric has been second, with 265 points y 15 best votes, while the last place in the podium has been for the Hyundai Ioniq 5, with 261 points, also with 15 best votes. This is the first time that Kia wins the Car of the Year award, which celebrates the 59th edition.

The rest of the finalists for this year award, with six EV cars of the seven, have been Peugeot 308 (191 points), Skoda Enyaq iV (185), Ford Mustang Mach-E (150) and Cupra Born (144). Six of the finalists were fully electric cars, with the seven model available in either petrol or diesel version, or as a rechargeable plug-in hybrid. In the very start of the 2022 edition, 18 of the 39 first cars of the Long list were electric.

Presented by Alexandra Legouix, with the participation of the president of the COTY jury, Frank Janssen, and the CEO of the GIMS SWISS, Sandro Mesquita, this has been the third occasion that the ceremony was celebrated exclusively online in a row due to the pandemic situation, with the presence of the seven models that competed for this award.

The Jury for the Car of the Year 2022 consisted in this time of 59 members, representing 22 European countries, with the objective of finding the best new car on sale. “We’re still independent from the motoring industry and we still have no category”, said Frank Janssen. “We have only one winner at the end, we don’t provide a trophy for each of the participants, so that’s the reason why this prize is so recognize”.
