We are pleased to announce that the announcement of the winner of the title The Car of the Year 2025 will take place at the Brussels Motor Show in January next year. Due to this early date, we have adjusted the timeline to have the time needed for the final test of the seven finalist cars. The updated timeline is:

Unfortunately, two Stellantis models could not be ready for the Tannistest. It concerns the Fiat Grande Panda and the Opel Frontera. These two models will not be available for test drives at Tannistest.

Now, 35 Jurors from 21 countries have registered for Tannistest 2024. Most of them are accompanied by co-operators, so the total number of journalists will exceed 60. They can all test drive the 31 car models registered for the event.

(September 12th)

Unfortunately, Volkswagen has had to announce that they cannot be present with cars at this year's Tannistest after all. This means that the Jury members don't get the opportunity to test drive the two models from VW that are on this year's Long list. It concerns the VW Passat and the VW Tiguan.

Tannistest has organized charging infrastructure so we can charge all the test cars at the event. To cover these costs, we ask the Car Manufacturers/Car Importers for payment to charge the electric cars and the plug-in hybrid cars that are participating in Tannistest 2024.
The fee will be a 'flat rate' of 100 Euro for each BEV or PHEV car. The fee will be charged at the event to one of the representatives of each brand in case we haven't agreed on other payment methods. The Tannistest organization ensures that all the cars are continuously charged so that there always is sufficient power for the test drives.

(August 27th)

At the moment 26 Jurors from 18 countries have registered for Tannistest 2024. Most of them are accompanied by co-operators so the total number of journalists will exceed 50 persons. At the moment there are 29 models registered for the event. And we still expect more car models to come...

(February 26th)

The new Renault Scenic has been proclaimed the Car of the Year 2024 in a ceremony that has taken place in Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS). The Renault Scenic E-Tech has achieved first place thanks to 329 votes obtained. For 22 Jurors, this SUV has been chosen as the best of the seven finalists. This is the seventh time that Renault wins the Car of the Year trophy which celebrates its 61st edition.

The BMW 5-Series, second, has been close to Renault Scenic, with a total of 308 votes and 19 best votes, followed by the new Peugeot 3008, third, with 197 and 3 best votes. The rest of the finalist for the award were Kia EV9 (190 points), Volvo EX30 (168), BYD Seal (131) and Toyota C-HR (127). This edition, four of the seven finalist models were completely electric, including the winner and the other three had completely electric and/or plug-in versions.

On this occasion, the Car of the Year ceremony has returned to the GIMS after being held at the Brussels International Motor Show in 2023. Car of the Year ceremony has been the fist event of Geneva International Motor Show.

The Jury for the Car of the Year 2024 has been made up of 58 members, representing 22 countries, with the objective of finding the best new car on sale.

Of the 28 new cars of the long list of candidates, the 59 eligible jury members from 22 countries cast their votes in the first round and selected the shortlist. The seven finalists in alphabetical order are:

28 Jurors have registered for Tannistest this year. Together with around 30 co-operators we can expect appr. 60 journalists in total. 15 car brands are bringing 23 new car models and in total 50 cars to the event. And for many jurors it is the first chance to drive several of the car models on public roads. It seems to be a great test for all participant!

(Updated 20th September - Renault Scenic goes 'Dynamic')

NEW: Renault now confirm that they will bring four cars of the new Scenic and that all cars will be available for dynamic test drives.

There has also been some other changes in the list of cars available at Tannistest 2023. Unfortunately XPENG has chosen to withdraw all the test cars from the test, which means there will be no XPENG P7 or G9 at the Tannistest. I know many have looked forward to see and try these cars, but this is not possible now, and the reason is that XPENG doesn't qualify for the longlist since they are only present in four markets this year. Next year it is another situation...

Luckily we have now been able to welcome FIAT with the new 600e and LUCID AIR this year . The complete list of cars at the event is updated above, and later we will list the complete coverage of car models including detailed information on each test car for the Tannistest.

Together with around 30 co-operators we can expect appr. 60 journalists in total. 15 car brands are bringing 22 new car models and in total 47 cars to the event. And for many jurors it is the first chance to drive several of the car models on public roads. It seems to be a great test for all participant!

In around 100 days Tannistest 2023 will take place! Therefore, it is recommendable to sign up for the event both for you as a Juror and for you as a representative from the industry. Please use the link here for the sign-up part, but don’t forget to reserve the hotel directly – first in, first served! For the time being we expect around 25-30 jury-members to join the event and around 30-35 new car models.

This Tannistest has been a suc­cess! Not because of the weather! But because of the great support from both COTY-Jurors and the industry. It has resulted in many cars, fine tests and excellent photo ses­sions. And we managed to have two interesting interview sessions.
So, as the organizer of Tannis-test I will conclude, we got what we came for. It has once again been great to join Tannistest whatever you are a journalist or a represen­tative of the industry.
   I will use the opportunity to thank the car brands for their strong com­­mit­ment and support by bringing both cars and experts.  Also to my colleagues in the Jury and my colleagues from FDM I wish to say: Thank you! And to everyone: I wish you a safe jour­ney back home and welcome back next year!
